FACT: Caribbean Islands are the biggest plastic polluters per capita in the world. In 2016, global plastic waste amounted to some 242 million metric tons. Of this, 137 million tonnes (or more than 57%) originated in East Asia, the Pacific, Europe, Central Asia, and North America, much of which made its way into the ocean.

Presidential Beach Clean-Up
Climate change is not just a long-term issue; it is happening today and it affects us all!
Presidential Insurance recognizes the challenges facing our society in dealing with global warming, climate change, and pollution. We must all make an effort to address and make changes that will ultimately protect our future generations.
The Mayaro Beach Clean-Up was a small initiative aimed at getting rid of garbage and debris that pollute our beaches and landscape.
The management and staff of PICL who volunteered were pleased to partner with Second Crossing Hardware and Earth Works Solution Limited, both of which donated garbage bags and gloves to assist in the cleanup drive.
A common sight at Frontin Road Mayaro beach, as piles of rubbish, were scattered across the shoreline.

Global Warming Facts
What is Global Warming?
Global warming is the long-term rise in the average temperature of the Earth's climate system. It is a major aspect of climate change and has been demonstrated by direct temperature measurements and by measurements of various effects of warming. Global warming and climate change are often used interchangeably.
Can we reverse Global Warming?
Humans have caused major climate changes to happen already, and we have set in motion more changes still. Even if we stopped emitting greenhouse gases today, global warming would continue to happen for at least several more decades, if not centuries.
What happens when pollution spreads?
Air pollution consists of chemicals or particles in the air that can harm the health of humans, animals, and plants. It also damages buildings. Pollutants in the air take many forms. They can be gases, solid particles, or liquid droplets.
How does Climate Change affect the weather?
Climate change influences severe weather by causing longer droughts and higher temperatures in some regions and more intense deluges in others, say climate experts. Among the most vulnerable are communities in the exposed mountain and coastal regions.
